A 25 year-old woman has been arrested and booked at the Imperial County Jail after she allegedly tried to smuggle drugs into a CA State Prison. According to to a report by the Victor Valley News. The incident took place in the latter part of January, the report notes, when Stephanie Martinez scheduled a visit with a 28 year-old make inmate who was serving time on a 2nd degree robbery charge.
She was seen passing something to that inmate at some point during the visit, jail officials said, adding that both she and the inmate were then searched. The search uncovered that Martinez had brought roughly $19,000 worth of heroin into the prison facility.
The now-defendant has been released from the Imperial County Jail on unknown bail bonds. Her exact charges, bail amount and next court date were not immediately known.
