A spokesperson for the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that a man who is the prime suspect in a recent stabbing incident has been booked into the El Centro Jail.
Sources say the incident took place in the area of Salton Sea Beach late last week; a passerby saw the stabbing take place and managed to flag down an ICSD patrol car. That witness, along with others, told the law enforcement official that they saw a suspect pull out a knife and force himself into a local home.
The victim said the suspect tried to stab a female who was in the residence, but he stepped forward to try to stop the man and wound up being wounded in his lower torso.
The 31 year-old suspect made a run for it but his escape attempt was futile. Imperial County Jail officials say he was captured a short time later and was taken into custody without further incident. He’s being charged with attempted murder and other felony charges. His bail bonds information was not immediately available.
