An El Centro man who shot at an area home was booked into the Imperial County Jail this week on a whole slew of charges. A spokesperson for the El Centro Jail say the incident may have stemmed from the home’s inhabitant having cut off the shooter while driving in traffic.
Police say they received a call regarding shots fired. The caller said once the shooter unloaded their gun, a car sped out of the area and was driving quite fast. Several other people in the area said they heard the same thing- gunshots followed by squealing tires.
Another one of the home’s residents said he saw that same car earlier in the day, when he cut it off in traffic. Detectives eventually tracked down the suspect and executed a search warrant at his home. When they arrived, they found a gun, nine pounds of marijuana, ammunition and a magazine to a firearm.
Jail sources say the defendant was booked on several felony charges including possession of drugs for sale. Bail bonds information was not immediately available.
