A search warrant executed by the El Centro Police Department earlier this week resulted in a series of arrests. Large quantities of drugs were confiscated at the scene. More than three ounces of methamphetamine and 1 ounce of heroin were among the items logged into evidence. Officers said the street value of the drugs was in excess of $2,000.
A large quantity of copper wire was also found inside the Vine Ave. home. Investigators say they believe it may have been stolen from various places throughout the city. At least one of the arresteees has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.
Police also searched a second residence a few blocks away. They found more methamphetamine and heroin in addition to items that had reportedly been taken during a recent residential burglary. Three people were arrested at this location. One has been charged with possession of stolen property and the others were charged with various narcotics offenses and parole violations.
All four defendants remain in custody at the El Centro Jail. Their names have not been made public. Bail amounts were not immediately available but it is suspected that three of the four may have no-bail holds due to their parole violations. Should a judge remove those holds is is suspected their bail amounts will be in excess of $40,000 each. If prosecutors determine any of the defendants are gang members they will receive additional enhancements.
They are scheduled to appear before a judge later this week.
