Deputies within the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department have had their hands full in the past few weeks. Below are just a few of the calls they have responded to.
The most notable incident took place last week when an unknown man started to bang on the door of a local home. He told the residents he was there in search of cigarettes. It is unclear how long the suspect harassed the renters. A call was placed to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department a short time later. The man had departed the scene by the time squad cars arrived.
A second incident took place the following night. Deputies said they received credible information that a person was stripping copper wire from telephone poles. The caller was able to provide a description of the suspect and passed off accurate information about his whereabouts.
Call logs reportedly show that man was last scene traveling westbound on a bicycle. Four squad cars were dispatched but the suspect was gone when they got there.
A third odd call came in a few hours later. A man told dispatchers that he was hanging out in his camper and was being plagued by odd and strange noises. He thought there may be a would-be thief outside that had an interest in stealing it. A second theory was that a friend or stranger was trying to mess with him.
Additional information was not provided. No arrests have been made. If anyone has any information regarding the above incidents they are asked to call the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department as quickly as possible.
