The Imperial County Sheriff’s Department has responded to a number of calls in the past few days. Below are just a handful of the incidents they were asked to investigate.
Deputies first responded to calls of a reported burglary in the town of Holtville. Callers said the unknown suspects stole several electronics items from their home, including a television and video game console. The burglars were last seen fleeing south in an 8th Street alley. They are believed to have been wearing dark colored swearers. Persons arrested and charged with residential burglary will be transported to the El Centro Jail to be booked and processed. Bail amounts for this charge can range between $15,000 and upward depending on the nature of the crime.
The next call related to a possible trespassing incident. Responders said they arrived on the scene after a homeowner alleged campers were unlawfully on his property. Deputies said they were not able to act due to property lines being unclear. If the campers had been suspected of trespassing they would likely have been ticketed. They would not have been arrested nor would they have needed to hire a bondsman in order to get out of jail.
Lastly, a deputy who was called to investigate an incident at a local nightclub reportedly got into a vehicle accident while he was en-route to the scene. He was treated for minor injuries and is expected to return to work later this week. Additional information about the originating incident was not immediately available.
