The Imperial County Sheriff’s Department said an El Centro man who was receiving medical care at a San Diego hospital reportedly made death threats against his medical caregiver should his animals die wile he is at the hospital. The man told the caregiver he has a gun at his residence.
Later that day a man who was pulled over by a Border Patrol agent was arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail for possession of marijuana. Sheriffs said the driver was pulled over for speeding but was found to have marijuana on their person. This charge frequently associated with a $10,000 bail.
There is also a report of a Westmorland man being investigated for illegal burning but was later found to be participating in a controlled burn. No arrests were made. The fire department said they would educate the man as to appropriate burn hours.
A suspicious person was seen to be parked out of an El Centro home for an “extensive period of time”. Sheriffs say the caller indicated they were unable to get a clear view of the driver. The car was gone by the time a squad car arrived on the scene.
Lastly, a woman in Seeley is reported to have attempted to overdose on prescription medication. A spokesperson for the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department said the reporting caller said the woman was suffering from depression. Further information is not available at this time.
