Sources close to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department Brawley Substation have confirmed that two suspects who are believed to be tied to a series of recent farm shop thefts have been arrested and booked at the Imperial County Jail.
Tools and other related farm implements were stolen during the crimes, they said, and investigators had been working to uncover who was responsible for the break-ins. The department has not released the approximate value of the stolen items but it is believed to have been substantial.
A male and female suspect were arrested and the pair was charged with felony conspiracy and possession of stolen property. Bail bonds were set at $20,000 each; it’s unclear if the couple remains behind bars or if they hired an El Centro bondsman to help arrange a pretrial release.
Imperial County Jail representatives have not said if this is the first time these suspects have found themselves in trouble with the law. They have, however, said that most of the stolen items were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
