Representatives from the El Centro Police Department say they are still investigating crime and capturing criminals.
The most recent incident took place on Saturday, they said. It was during that time that a pair of juvenile offenders broke into an area school. A concerned citizen called the tip into department dispatchers. That person heard noises and the sound of breaking glass.
Police officers reportedly arrived on the scene a very short time later. They walked onto the campus and found two juvenile offenders. Their names have not been released due to their age. The alleged law breakers are said to have caused damage to at least two classrooms.
School officials have not indicated the amount of the financial damage. El Centro Police officers detained the youngsters and transported them to juvenile hall. Offenders who are under the age of 18 are not booked into the Imperial County Jail. They are also unable to hire an expert bondsman to help arrange their release.
Another recent incident involved the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies said they were called to Holtville on Saturday to assist with the flipping of a tractor trailer. The rear portion of the semi-trailer had somehow flipped onto its side. The incident took place during the middle portion of the day.
The ICSD said that no injuries were reported. They have not indicated whether any structures were damaged.
They, and the El Centro Police, continue to encourage anyone who believes they are witnessing crime to call it in.
