Sources within the El Centro Police Department have confirmed that officers are trying to figure out why an unknown person broke a bunch of vehicle windows in the early part of last week.
Burglaries throughout the state have been on the rise since the passage of Prop. 47, the Nov. 2014 ballot initiative that reduced certain felony offenses to misdemeanor crimes; but according to a report by IV Press Online, police in El Centro say the perplexing thing about this crime is that nothing was stolen out of the cars.
Whoever broke the windows, simply broke them to shatter the glass. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect, and anyone who may have video surveillance footage of the crimes in progress is asked to pass it along to the authorities.
Police are also reminding residents to not store anything of value in your vehicle; if you do need to keep something in your car temporarily be sure it is stashed out of sight.
