A 34 year-old woman has been booked at the Imperial County Jail on attempted murder charges after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend during a spat.
Authorities said they received an incident call early last week; a couple was fighting and it was unclear whether someone was hurt during the disturbance. When officers arrived on scene they were rushed by one of the victim’s family members who asked they call an ambulance right away.
They also found a 22 year-old man who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Four were located in his torso, they said, and it seemed as if a folding pocket knife had been the attack weapon. He was eventually flown to a regional medical facility in Palm Springs where he remains in critical condition.
Officers quickly began searching for the victim’s girlfriend who was believed to be the primary suspect in the crime. They found her a short time later at a residence within the same apartment complex.
The suspect has been charged with mayhem and attempted murder. Her bail bonds information was not immediately available but the amount is likely to be substantial based on the severity of the alleged crimes.
