The Imperial County Sheriff’s Department said they have arrested two men on suspicion of smuggling undocumented people into the country. Damian Flores and Fernando Fernandez were taken into custody on Wednesday and were transported to the El Centro jail to be booked and processed. A local newspaper reported no additional information is available at this time.
Later that same week, two other individuals were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a local motel. A manager called in to report a sign had been stolen. Imperial Sheriffs say the item was later found abandoned in the yard of a private residence. The suspects remain at large.
Imperial Sheriff’s also responded to a report that an In and Out patron had passed out inside one of their restaurant chains. Deputies arrived at the location shortly thereafter and believed the customer had been drinking alcohol. He was booked into the El Centro jail but was cited and released a short time later.
Deputies also answered a call from a resident who reported three aggressive pit bull dogs were seen wandering the neighborhood. The resident said the animals had previously entered her yard and killed a family pet. Animal Control was made aware of the situation.
Lastly, Imperial Sheriff’s Department personnel received notification that an employee at Macy’s had admitted to unlawfully charging $150 worth of items to a different customer’s store credit card. Additional information is not available at this time.
