El Centro Jail officials have said a man was arrested and booked into their location after he was taken into custody and charged on suspicion of domestic violence. Officers who responded to the scene said they found his wife to have a recently broken arm. Authorities believe the injury was not accidental and happened as a result of spousal battery.
Defendant Jerry Crutcher, 50 is believed to have his bail set at $50,000. It is unclear whether he remains in custody or if he was able to hire an Imperial County bondsman to arrange a bond.
Jail officials also report that members of the El Centro Police Department are on the lookout for a purse thief. This incident took place inside a local Wal-Mart. Witnesses say the man approached the woman, snatched her bag and took off on foot. Several Good Samaritans attempted to chase after him, but the suspect got away. Once captured the suspect will be booked into the Imperial County Jail. His exact charges will not be known until his information is entered into the computer system.
The suspect is reportedly described as being a Hispanic man approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. He has is about 30 years of age and has a thin build. Anyone with more information is asked to contact police to file a report. It is not clear if the man is considered to be dangerous.
