If someone you care for has been arrested by the El Centro Police Department the first thing you will want to do involves staying calm.
If you are with the defendant when they are being taken into custody ask the arresting officer what the charges are and if they know what the bail bonds amount will be. This will be helpful information to pass along to the bondsman. If you don’t know the charges or bail bonds amount, that’s OK. Your bondsman will be able to look that information up once the Imperial County Jail begins the booking process.
You will also want to keep in mind that the defendant will need to be fully booked into the system before the jail will allow them to bond out. This generally takes between 4 to 6 hours from star to finish. Although it’s very common for the defendant’s paperwork to be processed quickly, the jail will need to submit their fingerprints to a national database in order to run a warrant check. The results from the warrant check can take several hours to process, which is why booking takes so long.
