When someone has been arrested they will be transported to one of the Imperial County jails to be booked and processed. During this time, the crime they are being charged with will be referenced against the county bail schedule.
The Imperial County bail schedule is set each year by a panel of judges and it tells jails which bail amounts should correspond with different crimes. Less serious offenses will have lower bail than do more serious offenses. Other factors, such as whether the defendant has a prior history of arrest, whether they are considered to be a danger to society and whether they are considered to be a flight risk may also be considered when bail is being set.
Once bail has been set the fastest way to get someone out of jail is to either post cash bail or to hire an Imperial bail bondsman to post a bond. For cash bail you would need to take the full bail amount in cash and post it at the jail. As long as the defendant goes to court this money will be refunded. If you wish to hire an Imperial bail bondsman, you will need to pay them a fee equal to 10% of the total bail amount in order to purchase a bond. You should keep in mind the fee you pay a bondsman is just that- a fee. It is not something you will get back.
